The M3 Pro is the first chip where Apple reduced key specs like transistor count, CPU and GPU core count, and memory bandwidth compared to the previous generation.

The M3 Pro has a transistor count of 37 billion, down from 40 billion in the M2 Pro

The M3 Pro is a modest improvement over the M2 Pro, but there is a wider performance gap between the M3 Pro and M3 Max.

The M3 Pro has six high-performance CPU cores and six smaller efficiency cores, while the M2 Pro had eight P-cores and four E-cores.

The M3 Pro's GPU has a maximum of 18 cores, compared to 19 cores in the M2 Pro.

Memory bandwidth has decreased from 200GB/s to 150GB/s in the M3 Pro.

The M3 Pro shows a solid step forward in single-core CPU performance, with a 15% increase compared to the M2 Pro, but multi-core performance is similar to the M2 Pro.
